Absorbed poisons enter the body directly through the skin or through the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, and mouth. Typically absorbed poisoning occurs from a spill, splash, spray, or direct skin handling of an absorbable poisonous substance.

Steps
1   Act quickly. The effect may worsen with time. Expose affected area by cutting or tearing away clothing.
2   Safely brush off any dry powder chemicals first.
3   Flush area with large amounts of water.
4   Activate EMS immediately if person is displaying any serious signs or symptoms.
5   Call the U.S. National Poison Hotline at 1-800-222-1222 for additional directions on care.
