Lionfish Sting

Lionfish can sting a person with venom-delivering spines. In the wild, they are not aggressive towards people and will almost always keep their distance when given the opportunity, hence pose a relatively low risk. Lionfish are collectively one of the most popular aquarium-kept fishes and their owners are likely to receive a sting injury Although not deadly, the lionfish’s sting is extremely painful.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Get out of the water immediately
2   Rinse the wound with clean water
3   Immerse the wound in hot but non-scalding water (110 to 113° F) for 30 to 90 minutes.
4   The patient should be made to lie down and the injured foot (or other body-part) should be elevated above the rest of the body.
5   Rinse the wound with again with clean water.
6   Apply compression and Seek medical attention.
