Impaled Object

An object embedded into tissue is called an impaled object. An impaled object can cause severe damage if removed. Be sure to check with emergency personnel.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Call emergency services immediately to get professional assistance.
2   Assess, Alert, and Attend to the ABC's.
3   Control the bleeding by applying pressure around the object.
4   Place bulky dressings around the object for support.
Warnings
DO NOT remove the object unless it is through the cheek and blocks breathing.
Tips
Try to keep the person as calm as possibly while waiting for help to arrive.
