Earflap injuries such as abscesses or ear hematomas (a swelling filled with blood) must be examined and treated by a veterinarian. These types of injuries can result from underlying allergies, trauma to the ear from a foreign body, excess scratching, and fight wounds.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Trim any long fur on the ear flap so you can clean it easily
2   After clipping thoroughly rinse the area with warm water and then pat it dry
3   Use a clean soft cloth or gauze pad and apply pressure directly to the injury the bleeding will stop in 5 min or less
4   While travelling to the vet apply direct pressure to the ear flap.
Warnings
Cuts, tears, or bites to the ear flap will bleed a lot due to the high amount of blood supply there
Tips
Be careful when trimming fur with scissors not to cut the skin, use an electric clipper or mustache trimmer
Give your pet a treat to have them remain calm while trying to stop the bleeding
